The Price Paid for my Special VISA

I have arrived in Croatia. We have onboard three hundred fifty- seven crewmembers from fifty-six different countries. I was the only one on the immigration black list.

Two hours before we sailed from Italy to Croatia, the ship's purser took me to the Croatian consulate so I could acquire a special visa that would enable me to enter the country.

After an overnight voyage, we arrived in the port of Rijeka at 10am.

As the ship came into the berth that was prepared for us, I held my country's flag and yelled some special greetings to the city. Of course, I was yelling in Chinese no one could understand me. I just felt a need to express my patriotism because of the hurdles I had to jump to get here.

In nowadays that many schools doesn't even raise the flags in Taiwan, I feel so pathetic about myself.
