Dear friends around the globe: Thank you for the support via mails, short notes, finance, and prayers. As you see this picture, it represents a message of the need of your prayer. On the 14th of Feb, there is an assassination with car bombing in Beirut. The former PM Mr. Al Harili and other 20 plus people were killed in the incident. Many of the crew members were just few blocks (even just meters) away. Since then, there had been a massive protest rally, a paralyzed parliament, and more than 3 bomb attacks in East Beirut (Christian area). We had been through all these with the local believers and everybody on board. My world view had been fixed. It just seems so unreal when you are part of the scenario. The end of 2001, I visited New York City for the second time. The morning of Christmas in downtown Manhattan was just deadly quiet. The twin towers now became ground Zero. The chill in the wind sounded like mourning for the history that would never rewrite; the hatred would never be reconciled; and the fantasy of na?e good deeds of man was once again broken. Here I am, again. Ask the same question, where is my shelter? To whom my hope for mankind can rely? To what my faith of creeds will be able to berth? Here I want to share with you Psalm 46. God [is] our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; [Though] the waters thereof roar [and] be troubled, [though] the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. [There is] a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy [place] of the tabernacles of the most High.God [is] in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, [and that] right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our refuge. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I [am] God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our refuge. (This report was accomplished on 30th of April.)
The first lady of Lebanon visited the other day. I was obviously the gofer who opened doors.
I was in front of an art piece about the circle of life. By once more taking nourishment from their life-giving spiritual roots, East and West can open an era of mutual inspiration. The precondition is readiness to step beyond dead habits and deadly prejudice. Vaclv Havel |
