Bremen port report: 1st half

歡迎譽載歸國!彭書睿Welcome!

Welcome, Ray ~ Here is your home

The day we arrived is special for me, personally. I was in Bremen exactly 1 and half years ago. Before I went to the Global Orientation conference which were held in Mosbach, I came here and visited Manu and Sabine, the couple I’ve met in Taiwan. That was a great time and adjustment into cross-culture exploration 18 months ago. Now I have been traveling with DOULOS for more than 20 countries in three continents. And I came back to Bremen, where all the stories started. Guess what, I had my personal fun club here!! We have expected this day for a long time since we knew the draft schedule. It is always feeling great if you have someone waving and hi at quayside. Booking once was waving our Taiwan flag at the shore of Antalya, Turkey. That was special. I am waiting for the day that ship sails back to Asia and my fella friends will make me proud.

TeenStreet 跳everybody 跳!

Jump, everybody Jump!

TeenStreet was just a saying in the past. I heard it so many times from the Europeans on board. Many young people were involved of this giant movement. More than 3,500 teens gathered together to worship, and be challenged into ministries and missions. I have been to Urbana and EARC but, man, this is special! Teenagers from 20 countries jumped around and participated all kinds of creative activities. They got digital car-racing competition. They got hard core rappers shacked the roof. They got kiosks selling coca cola, fries, and pizza. They got the whole shop selling all kinds of Teenstreet souvenirs. And most of all, they all felt proud of being a Christian, being a Jesus Freak!! That made whole lot of difference! Especially in the secular Europe, a Christian is a target to mock and attack. And TeenStreet made all these kids felt it could be cool as a Christian!

Well, that is investigation for next generation, or, every generation.

生日派對,沒到的有幾個?

28th birthday party with lots of love

Well, last year I celebrated my birthday during the voyage from Romania to Ukraine. That was wonderful. Sunset, fried dumplings, blooms, and weird games made our day. There were more than 20 people in the party. This year, I have spent the whole year on Doulos. Many of my very best friends had left already. So guess who will come? Out of my surprise, that evening we had more than 60 people at the fun deck. There was so crowdy that even you can barely walk. I got so much chocolates even I don’t like them that much. But that represented the love from others. My joy once again was from my good friends in Bremen, Sabine, Manu and their close giant friend Zohan (? Not sure the name). Their birthday greeting was written on there arms with “permanent” marker. It said, “Dearest Ray, this is your very personal blue birthday card from some German friends! Have a funny blue day! Lots of blessings…” Blue 28 is the theme of the birthday party. People supposedly should wear something blue as dress code. However, all the DOuloids used to be sloppy, and just came with whatever. But it was great and remarkable.!
